Week 51 (Feb 16-23): Gymnastics, the Park, a Haircut, a Train Ride, a Swimming Date, and Hibachi Dinner!

Wow – I had a super busy weekend!!  Before the weekend, I had a fun week at school.  Mummy got to fly home a day early so she dropped me off one day and got to see just how much I love my new class!  When all of the Beginners are not at school yet we get to hang out with the Toddler room – they are so cool!  I am doing so great at school and love eating at the table like a big boy.  Miss Leanne told Mummy that I need to have shoes at school because we are going outside to play now that the weather is getting so much nicer – fun!

The weather has been really nice…if not a little windy.  This weekend, Mummy and Daddy walked me to a park near the house and I got to have some outside playtime!  I was just up from my nap and was still a little tired but I woke up and had fun.  I got to go on the swings, the slide and got to crawl around and walk around some of hte bars and spirals there.  I also discovered the woodchips – Mummy was afraid I would try to eat them.  I did not – ha!  They were very, very interesting though.  I kept looking at them and picking them up and feeling them.  So many new and exciting things to learn and experience!

On Saturday, I went to my gymnastics class at The Little Gym with Mummy and Daddy and had so much fun!  I am getting so fast and crawl all over the place and love to explore all of the equipment.  We also played with the shaker bells, got to bang sticks together and played with balls.  Next week is “beam buddies” day and we all get to bring a buddy to class with us.  Miss Shelby is going to be my beam buddy!  After class, Mummy and Daddy took me out to breakfast at The Huckleberry.  That is the very first restaurant I ever went to…when I was only 2 weeks old (and a LOT when I was still in Mummy’s belly!!).  Once we were sitting down, the hostess came near the table to seat another family and I grabbed her bum!!  Everyone laughed but then Mummy told me that it is not polite to grab bums…I’m sure she will have to tell me again when I am older.  In the car on the way home I was very tired and Mummy rode in the back with me.  To keep me entertained she taught me a new noise!  Here is a video of me making my new mouth noise with Mummy:

After my gymnastics class, I took a long nap then went for my third haircut.  My hair grows so fast!!  After my haircut, Mummy rode with me on the train that goes around the Orchard shopping center where my salon (Pigtails & Crewcuts) is.  A little girl and her Mommy rode with us and she had a cool, green balloon that I really, really wanted.  I had fun waving at everyone as we rode by and got excited when we got back to the “station” and I saw Daddy.  After the train, we went to the shoe store to get me some shoes for school that have real bottoms and aren’t just crib shoes.  I got a pair of navy blue Nikes, black high top converse, and navy and black Vans with guitars on them.  I’m such a big boy!!

On Sunday, after my morning nap and while we waited for Miss Shelby to wake up from her nap, Mummy took me to the “kid zone” at the Broomfield Rec Center.  It was soooo great!!  There were lots of fun, colorful things for me to climb on, around and through.  There was also a big, blue slide that Mummy helped me go down three times!  To get up there we had to crawl and climb up an obstacle course.  I loved it!!  there were lots of other kids and I caught on pretty quickly where I needed to go.  That slide sure was fun!

After three times down the slide, we saw Laura and Miss Shelby!  We all went to the locker room and got changed into our new suits.  Shelby had a pretty new green bathing suit and looked so pretty!  My new trunks are blue and green with fish on them – I looked very handsome!  We played in the shallow end for a little bit then our Mummies took us around the lazy river.  We both had fun looking at everything and kicking and splashing.  After we had enough swimming (I was getting very tired) we went back to out house and had some lunch.  Shelby even ate some of my spinach ravioli!  I took a nice, long nap as soon as I finished my lunch – I was exhausted!!

Even though we’d had a very busy weekend already, after my afternoon nap Mummy and Daddy took me out to a family dinner.  We went to Mt. Fuji, a hibachi place in Westminster that we had gone to on New Years Day.  I had worked up quite the appetite from all my playing and swimming and I ate a lot!!  While we were waiting for Santos, our awesome chef (the same on we had last time – Mummy asked for him this time too) I had goldfish, the rest of my spinach ravioli from lunch, edamame, tofu and some of Mummy’s salad (I LOVE salad!!).  When Santos arrived I was captivated by his “show” of cooking.  I didn’t even cry when he made the big fire in the beginning…the 7 year old little girl at the table with us cried for 5 minutes!!  Once we had more food, I kept on eating!  I had almost half of Mummy’s fried rice (yum!), more tofu, some noodles, broccoli (my favorite!) and carrots!  I didn’t stop eating the whole time we were there!  It was a lot of fun.  When we got home, I got a bath and went straight to bed.

Whew!

Here are lots of photos from my week:

Week 50 (February 9-16): Double Ear Infection, Elena’s 1st Birthday, Valentine’s Day, and a Thumb Boo Boo

I had kind of a rough week this week.  On Thursday, Daddy got a call from school that I woke up with a fever of 103.  Daddy was already on the way to get me and when I got home it was down to 100.  Since temps are always higher right after sleeping Mummy and Daddy think they took my temp too soon and that, while I did have a fever, it wasn’t as high as 103.  After some motrin and before bedtime by temperature was back to normal.  Mummy called my doctor the next day and brought me in to be checked because I have had this runny/gunky nose and cough  for a few weeks now.  Sure enough, I had a double  ear infection!!  The doctor thought that my yucky nose and cough were probably related…draining and stuff.  Mummy and Daddy told me I really need to cry or fuss when something hurts so they can make it better.  I got antibiotics and am feeling much better now.  I was 24 lbs and 14 oz on Friday (clothes and diaper on).

On Saturday, after I was on my antibiotics for 24 hours, I went to Miss Elena’s 1st birthday party!!  Elena had on a beautiful, pink birthday dress and I had so much fun playing with her (well, mostly her toys) and Miss Shelby who was there too.  She had a really cool toy that we stood up on and played with – kind of like a jumper, but without the seat.  I got Elena a pink walk and ride toy for her birthday – I hope she likes it!  After she opened presents and we played, it was time for cake!  We all sang “Happy Birthday” to Elena and she had her very own carrot cake shaped like the number 1 – so cool!  I got to try some of Daddy’s cake and it was super yummy.  I can’t wait for my own cake soon

Sunday was a relaxing day at home marred by one little bit of yuckiness.  I apparently bit the thumb that I suck and it blistered and was all red.  Mummy and Daddy put my mitten on me for naps so I wouldn’t suck it anymore, but that just made it take a lot longer for me to fall asleep.  That night, Nana Foo Foo and Tia Dia came for an early Valentine’s Day dinner (Mummy’s least favorite holiday).  Nana Foo Foo is also a pediatric nurse who works in triage right now and she looked at my thumb and recommended that I go see the doctor the next day if it was not looking any better.  The rest of the night was so much fun.  I played with Dia and Foo Foo and we all had dinner together.  Mummy made a spinach risotto with a beet puree (which made it pink for Valentine’s Day) and red velvet cupcakes.  The loved the risotto, but did not care for the cupcakes.  When Mummy gave me a little bite, I opened my mouth, spit out my tongue and let it drop onto the table.  I then picked it up, lifted it over my head and hurled it onto the floor.  Then I gobbled up more spinach risotto and beets

In the morning, Daddy saw that my thumb was still really red so he made me another doctor appointment.  My thumb was OK, no infection.  They told Daddy that it would either get worse or better and that me sucking it would not make it worse so it was ok to take off the mitten for sleeping – hooray!!  It should also help that I am already on antibiotics for my ears.  If it got worse, all they could do would be to bring me back in and drain the blisters – OUCH!!  Luckily, the thumb is on the mend   Oh, and come Monday, I was 25 lbs and 8 oz (clothes and diaper on)…my appetite is back with a vengeance!!

The past few days I have been making up for all the sleep I missed when my ears hurt.  Yesterday  and the day before I took 3 hour naps in the afternoon…after 90 minute naps in the morning!!  Even though I did not really fuss or cry when my ears hurt, I was not sleeping quite as well.  I am also getting so much more active during the day that I wear myself out more.  Since I was recovering from my double ear infection and the thumb boo boo, Daddy kept me home with him for a few days.  I don’t sleep nearly as well as school so this was a great chance to catch up on sleep.  I also got to have some nice time with Daddy.  He even took  me out to lunch with him yesterday – Thai food!  He forgot a bib for me, but I didn’t make a mess – am such a big boy now!  Oh, and at home, I am getting very, very close to making a break for it out the dog door!

Here are some photos from the weekend and week:

Week 49 (February 2-9): 11 Months Old, A Groundhog Day Get-Together, Superbowl, and New Food Behaviors

I am officially 11 months old…and Mummy is officially freaking out that I’m almost ONE year old!!!  She is already planning my frog Prince themed birthday party in a month.

This week at school I went through all of my “spare” clothes.  One day, I had my first ever diaper blow-out.  Mummy and Daddy were very thankful that it happened at school and not at home.  The very next day I got red pasta sauce all over myself during lunch.  In other school news, I will be transitioning over the next month from the Infant 2 room (6-12 months) to the beginners (12-18 months) room.  It is just the next room over and I already like to play with the kids and teachers through the windows (they are low).  In the Beginners classroom there will only be 5 of us and we are all within 2-3 months of each other.  It will be the smallest class in the whole school!  In my new class I will be learning to take a nap on a map at the same time as everyone else (11:30 am, which is when I go down in my crib at school already) and will be starting to eat at a table, in a chair I get strapped into, with the other kids.  There is a lot more room to move around, explore and play!

Mummy and Daddy have been noticing that lately, my food preferences and habits are beginning to change.  I no longer love every single thing put in front of me.  I even found something I do NOT like.  Well, Mummy thinks I may have just not wanted it at the time since I’ve loved it in the past, but time will tell.  Daddy gave me a bite of lentil dahl and I opened my mouth and pulled in back out with my hands!!  I did the same thing with bite number 2!  The next day at school Mummy packed me tofu paneer (tofu with creamed spinach).  Miss Carol told Daddy that I wouldn’t eat it with the spinach but when she rinsed it off I ate all of the tofu.

Also, a troubling new trend is that I’ve stopped chewing my food.  That means that now I “choke’ at least once per meal and have a coughing fit.  I don’t actually choke because I am still breathing just fine, but I do cough like a mad man.  It even happens with super soft and teeny pieces of peaches!  I guess I am just developing food preferences and am experimenting with this whole chewing thing.  Mummy and Daddy are just going to keep introducing new foods, along with old favorites, and let me sort it out while keeping an extra watchful eye of my chewing and swallowing to make sure I don’t choke for real.

When Mummy got home on Thursday she was feeling pretty yucky.  So yucky that she cancelled the Groundhog Day Celebration on Saturday 😦  Then she got some much needed sleep, felt all better, and it was back on.  She confused people though so it was only a few people, but that turned out just fine!  I got to meet Mummy’s personal trainer, Jon, and his wife, Kimberly.  I loved Kimberly!!  Within just a few moments of meeting her, I had climbed right up into her lap.  Later that afternoon CeliaI got to play with my friend Miss Elena.  I even gave her Daddy, Eric, a high 5!  Even though I have been pickier lately with foods, I loved Mummy’s vegetarian chili and cornbread – YUM!

This Sunday was something called “Superbowl.”  Daddy watched a lot of it on the big TV down in the basement while I stayed upstairs with Mummy.  I got to see my Tia Dia on Superbowl Sunday!!!  She sure is fun!  Mummy tried to get some photos of us, but only ended up with the top of Dia’s head or the top of mine.  We’ll try again soon!

A little bit before Tia Dia had to go home Laura and Miss Shelby came to see me!!  It was the first time in awhile that we have both been awake at the same time and got to have some good play time.  I had just woken up 30 min earlier from a 2+ hour nap so I was in a great mood.  Shelby is WALKING!!!!  I had fun showing off and zooming all over the living room and throwing myself in and out of my blow-up car.  I stayed up way past my bedtime, but I had a blast!!

Here is a video that Daddy took of me crawling around with my balloon.  You can also see Mummy on Skype!

Here are the photos Mummy took this week:

Week 48 (January 26 – February 2): Family Lunch Date, My First Babysitter, and My Two front Teeth

I had a fun week this week.  Even though I slept through it all, we got a brand new fridge on Thursday night.  our old one died and Mummy went from the airport to The Home Depot and came home with a new fridge on a truck.  Daddy needed some help from our neighbor to get it inside, but everyone is really happy that we have a new fridge that is not broken!  I like that I can pull up on the bottom freezer handle!

Speaking of sleeping, I seem to be skipping my morning nap when I’m at school.  I still take two naps a day, but instead of a nap at 9 am and again at 1 pm, I am now not taking my first nap (at school) until around noon, then I always take another one when I get home a little after 2 pm.  None if this has messed up or moved my 5:30 pm bedtime though.  I have a very keen internal clock and come 5:20 or 5:30 I am ready for bed…even if I just woke up from a nap at 4 pm!!

Early Saturday, I had my gymnastics class, which I LOVE.  Mummy got me there a minute or two late so I missed the shaker bells and welcome song – she promises to get me there on time, or early, next week!!  This week I was crawling all over the place, exploring everything and dancing to all the music.  I loved playing with the balls and the bubbles!  I did a bunch of forward and backward rolls and hung on the bars.  This was a new class so I am not the youngest one anymore so there are lots of really little babies now.  The highlight of the class was the “log roll” which was when I laid on Mummy’s chest and she rolled like a log with me.  I laughed and laughed and open my mouth so wide that she saw that my two front teeth had just popped through!!!  Mummy and Daddy say that explains why I have been a little extra fussy lately.  Finally, I’ll have more than fangs up top 🙂

After my post-gymnastics nap (2 hours!), we all went to lunch as a family to a new pizza place that has vegan cheese for Mummy.  Well, Mummy is now only semi-vegan, but that’s ok.  They had really great pizza and I loved the ziti with marinara that Mummy and Daddy ordered for me.  I also enjoyed it for dinner and again for lunch the next day.  There were TVs in the restaurant and I also enjoyed watching some sports while I ate.  Like father, like son!

Friday was a really busy day!  So busy, that I slept right through my first ever non-Foo Foo babysitter.  Miss Nancy, who is Miss Shelby’s Auntie N, came over to babysit so Mummy and daddy could have a real date night.  Nancy came over at 6 pm but I was already asleep by 5:45.  Mummy and Daddy went to see Black Swan after getting some appetizers at Rock Bottom Brewery.  After the pizza lunch, they were not very hungry.  Hopefully the next time they go out, I will be awake and will get to play with Miss Nancy!

On Sunday, we had a family taco night (vegetarian) at home.  Mummy and Daddy usually eat much later than my 4 pm dinner time, so it was a special treat that we all got to eat together.  While I did not eat a whole lot of the tacos (veggie “meat,” beans, cheese, tomatoes, and tortillas) I did eat an entire can of mandarin oranges – my favorite!!  I did, however, eat all of my taco leftovers at school the next day.  Miss Carol asked Daddy what my lunch was when he picked me up because it smelled so yummy!  Speaking of Miss Carol, when Daddy picked me up on day, I was giving Miss Carol a big hug!

Mummy’s little camera is still broken and she has not sent it in to get fixed yet.  There are less photos this week, but they are much better quality because she used Daddy’s big, fancy camera.  Enjoy!
