Week 47 (January 19-26): Daddy’s Birthday, The Lafayette Children’s Museum, Football, and Birthday Planning

This was a week of ups and downs for me.  I am still getting over this yucky cold that seems to be going around.  Daddy took me to the doctor to make sure it wasn’t RSV (one confirmed case at my school) or an ear infection.  I had been rubbing me ear and it was red so he thought it would be best to make sure (at Mummy’s urging).  I have had a few rough nights and even took a bottle late one night, which is very out of the ordinary for me.  Also, my morning naps have not been the greatest lately…to make up for it I’ve been taking monster naps in the afternoons!

This weekend was my Daddy’s 39th birthday!!  Mummy was still sick so she didn’t cook, but we did go out for Thai food on his birthday.  Turns out, I LOVE edamame, masaman curry, drunken noodles, and sticky rice with custard!  No big surprises there…we are still searching for any food I don’t like, lol.  I was very good in the restaurant and smiled at everyone there.

On Saturday, Mummy was feeling better – yay!  She took me to the local children’s museum in Lafayette.  It was a lot of fun, but a little beyond my years.  It was mostly big kids playing with all of the really cool exhibits and running around.  There was no area designated for crawlers, like me.  We did find a music room that was a little more quiet and I loved playing with all of the fun instruments.  My favorite was the full size piano!  It had some Plexiglas covering the front and you could see the inside of the piano and see what happened when you bang on the keys.  At first, it was just fun banging on the keys.  Then I realized I could see what I was doing too and I really liked that part.  The other really cool part was a car that I got to “drive” while it moved.  Mummy says that we will go back a lot more when I am walking.  But, it is free for grownups all the time and free for me until I am 15 months so it’s a great deal!

After the museum, Mummy decorated the kitchen and Daddy’s cake so we could celebrate again.  It was fun to watch Daddy blow out his candles.  I even got to try some of the cake.  YUMMY!!  My favorite part of the birthday stuff was the balloons!!  I LOVED playing with the balloons…here is video proof:

On Sunday, after a rough morning and an excellent 3 hour and 15 minute afternoon nap Mummy and Daddy took me with them to see Miss Addy!  The grownups had fun hanging out, eating and watching football.  I met another little boy named Evan and of course, Miss Addy, and we played with all of her cool toys!  I loved her walker and her stand up little piano that I pushed around as a walked.  It was also great fun to chase a new dog around!  Roxy is super cute, but barks a lot when the opens.  I did not like the barking, but loved crawling around after her.  About an hour later than my usual bedtime (because I’d napped for sooooo long that afternoon) they put me to bed in Addy’s pack and play that her Daddy set up for me.  I had my sleep sack and lovie and my noise machine.  I slept like a rock until it was time to go home.  Then I slept more in the car.  when we got home, I got another bottle and went back to sleep for the night.  Mummy especially loved getting to put me to bed twice the night before she had to leave.

I hate that Mummy has to leave during the week.  I am getting more attached to my awesome Daddy though.  On the night I was having a hard time, I only wanted my Daddy to hold me and even cried and reached for Daddy when Mummy picked me up from Daddy’s arms.  Mummy got very sad about that 😦

On Monday, I had my first rough day at school.  I was fussy and just wanted to be held.  Mummy and Daddy think it is probably because I am still getting over this cold and have not been sleeping as well….or because I am missing my Mummy.  I sure hope we win the lottery so Mummy can stay home with me!

In more exciting news, Mummy ordered my birthday party stuff this weekend!  My party will be a Frog Prince theme and I’m the Prince!  To save money, Mummy got a package of stuff that she will print out and assemble herself.  It is super-duper cute and I can’t wait!  We are going to have lunch, snacks, drinks, and cake!  Mummy is making me a lemon cake with raspberry filling, just like Daddy’s cake (and just like Mummy and Daddy’s wedding cake!).  She will be making it vegan (and soy free) so she can eat some too and also for all of the babies with allergies.  I am also really excited for the toy exchange!  Instead of regular birthday presents, Mummy is asking everyone to just bring a toy or two that their kid(s) is sick of.  Then all of us with play with the toys and we will all “pick” (by who likes what the most) a “new” toy to take home.  She thinks it would be silly to buy new toys when we all have so many already!  She also thinks it will be nice for everyone to get a “present.”

While Mummy’s “new” camera is broken, she still got some photos from my week with her old, also broken, camera (including a photo of my first art project – a star that I “texturized”):

Here is a video Daddy took of me banging on the sliding glass door after school:

Also, Mummy forgot to post these videos from a few weeks ago…

Week 46 (January 12-19): School, Family Dinner, Little Monkey Bizness, and My 2nd haircut

This was an interesting week.  Mummy is now gone during the weeks (Mon-Thurs) and I am now going to school.  I am getting used to my new routine.  I took off my first two official days of school because I threw up  the night before I was supposed to have my first day.  Daddy took excellent care of me and I got better quick…though poor Daddy has a yucky cold now 😦

I’ve been doing really well in school!  Daddy drops me off around 9 am in the mornings and picks me back up by 2 pm.  On Fridays Mummy takes me.  I eat all of my food, take great naps, and play really nicely with the other babies.  Speaking of food, I have a new favorite – spinach hummus!  I love all the new toys and all the activities they have for us.  The activities are really just playing but it makes Mummy and Daddy extra proud to hear how well I am doing.  I am even taking longer naps at school now.  I started off only taking little naps…so much fun and excitement in the same room!  Now I can take more normal (for me) 90 minute naps – YAY!

On Friday night we went out for a family dinner.  It was Mummy’s last day being vegetarian before going back to being a vegan so she wanted an eggplant parm sub.  She is going back to being a vegan as a reward to herself for losing 100 lbs – go Mummy!!  Daddy took us all to Original Pizza in Broomfield, right down the street from our house.  They have really good pizza!  Daddy had baked ziti, but I ate a whole lot of it.  I LOVED the baked ziti!!!  I also liked Mummy’s eggplant and even had a few small bites of pizza.  Mostly, I liked eating daddy’s baked ziti while watching an Italian soap opera on the TV above our table 🙂

I had a really fun weekend!!  Now that I am not sick anymore I got to go back to my gymnastics class at The Little Gym – HOORAY!!!  I really love my class.  This week Mummy got me up a few minutes too late and I missed the shaker bells and the name song we do at the beginning of each class.  Daddy stayed home to sleep because he has a cold – he thinks he got it from dropping me off at school 😦  I did make it in time to bang colored sticks together…except I only wanted to wave one around, but that’s OK, it was fun too!  Our “skill of the week” was hanging on bars.  Mummy spotted me and swung me up and down then finally let me hang and swing all by myself!  I am a great hanger!!  We also did the “trick of the week” which was a backwards roll with Mummy spotting me.  We did that before Christmas and I liked it then too.  We also got time to explore everything and play with balls and bubbles.  Next week if our “Showcase Class” where friends and family are invited to watch us do all the fun tricks and skills we learned and we also get a medal with our names on it!!!

On Sunday I had a play date with Mummy’s friend Laura’s little girl, the pretty little Miss Shelby.  I really like her – she’s almost walking and still makes the coolest sounds!  Mummy other friend Celia and the adorable Miss Elena were going to come too, but Miss Elena too a very long nap at the wrong time.  She was at my house later, but I slept through it 😦  We met Laura and Miss Shelby at Little Monkey Bizness – FUN!  After we played for a while, we went to lunch at The Cheeky Monk.  I got to sit right next to Miss Shelby at the table 🙂  By the time lunch was over, us little ones were pretty tired.  We went back to my house for a nap.  Once we were soundly sleeping, Celia came over with sleeping beauty, Miss Elena.  Miss Shelby woke up after 90 minutes and got to play with Miss Elena, but I took an almost 3 hour nap and missed them both 😦  I hope to get to see them both again before Miss Elena’s 1st birthday party next month!!

On Monday, I was lucky that Mummy didn’t have to fly out until the afternoon!!  After my morning nap she took me to get my second haircut – boy, my hair sure does grow FAST!!!  I got to sit in the same taxi as last time, but it was not quite as much fun.  I was tired and hungry because we had to wait 20 minutes for the haircut…and 20 minutes is a long time for a 10 month old!!  We met Daddy at Little Monkey Bizness while we waited, but I fell and bonked my head on the window so that wasn’t as much fun as the day before.  In the end, I got a great haircut and I’m looking neat and handsome as ever 🙂

Daddy did a good job and took these videos of me for Mummy this week:

Week 45 (January 5-12): Throwing Up, Mummy Leaving and School

This week I threw up for time ever.  I don’t love it.  The first time I was trying to take a nap and felt yucky and was fussy, which was very strange for me, and then it happened.  I threw up all over myself and the crib.  Apparently I fell right asleep in it for about 20 minutes until Daddy came to get me.  I had stopped fussing so he had no reason to think I’d thrown up.  The only upside was that I got a fun bath in the morning!  Mummy and Daddy through it was a fluke and gave me a bottle before my next nap (I was acting totally normal) then about an hour and a half later I projectile vomited it all back up.  From there, they took it more seriously and started me very slowly on 1 teaspoon of Pedialite every 15 min.  I did fine for the rest of that day and the next day too.

On Sunday night, I threw up again 😦  Mummy had put be to bed at my normal time, around 5:30 pm.  I made a few little noises, but didn’t cry.  When Mummy came in to check on me before she went to bed, she found me sound asleep in a pile of vomit!!  I was covered in it and it was all over my crib.  Mummy took me out and put me in the tub while Daddy got my bed cleaned up and changed.  I did NOT like taking a bath in the middle of the night!  Mummy sais she was sorry but that she couldn’t put me back to sleep covered in vomit.  I guess that makes sense…I did stink.

I got more Pedialite and got rocked a lot before I finally went back to sleep.  I still did not feel good and was a little fussy.  I finally got back to sleep around midnight and slept fine the rest of the night.  I got another hug and more Pedialite from Mummy around 5:30 am.  So weird to see her that early!!

Here is why I saw Mummy so early on Monday – she was leaving!!!   Yes, leaving…she won’t be back until Thursday 😦  Mummy is very sad about it but she had to go back to work on Monday and since she is a consultant that means getting on a plane every Monday and flying home every Thursday.  The other option was to find a “regular” job locally.  I’m glad she went back to consulting because if she had to commute I wouldn’t get to see her at all, all day, Monday – Friday (because I go to bed too early and get up too late).  With her consulting, at least I get to see her Monday mornings, Thursday evenings and on Fridays.  Hopefully one day she’ll just be able to stay home with me!

Daddy has been taking excellent care of me while Mummy is gone.  On Monday and Tuesday I mostly only had Pedialite, rice congee (a little rice boiled with lots and lots of water…kind of like a rice porridge), banana, and some cheerios.  I didn’t throw up at all Monday or Tuesday and so far so good today.  I had to miss my first two days of school since I was sick and I have my first real day today! I’ll tell you all about it next week.

There are not as many photos as usual this week since I was sick and also because Mummy was not here to take them.  Daddy will do better taking photos next week and Mummy will take lots and lots over the weekend!

Week 44 (December 29 – January 5): Sledding, the New Year and School

This was a fun last week of the first year of my life!  It finally snowed – a lot!!  I was fascinated by all the white stuff floating down from the sky.  Mummy put me in my jumper next to the window and I just stared and stared.  I was all excited to go sledding but it was really, really cold!!  The very next day it was a teensy bit warmer and there was lots of good snow so Mummy and Daddy took me sledding!

While I was not  a fan of getting put into my new snowsuit, once I got strapped into my new sled (a super cool “infant bogan” from Dick’s) I was in heaven!!  Mummy and Daddy ran and pulled me along on the sidewalk.  I just giggled and squealed in delight!!  I was sad when we had to go back inside (I even fussed a little) but it was time because it was fuh-ree-zing!!!  I was mostly all snug in my new snowsuit, but my cheeks and nose were cold and pink!

Here is a video of me sledding:

Since it was a snow day Mummy and Daddy thought it would be a perfect time to introduce me to gilled cheese and tomato soup.  I LOVED it!!  It was the perfect little meal for after sledding.  Mummy says it is not an every day meal but every once in a while it’s ok.

The same of as sledding was New Years Eve.  I went to bed at my normal time, but Mummy and Daddy told me that when I get older I can stay up and celebrate the new year with them.  Oh, and Mummy and Daddy did not stay up for it this year either…we are all pretty tired around here!

My very most exciting thing this week was going to school!!  Mummy is back at work and will be traveling again 😦  That means that I need to start going to school.  I had a “practice” day and went after my morning nap and stayed until right before dinner.  I LOVED it!!  I ate my lunch, played with new toys and friends, and even took a good nap!  Mummy says she feels a little bit better about leaving knowing that not only am I in good hands, but also that I will be having a lot of fun, meeting new friends and learning new things.

Speaking of learning new things, I am now clapping and waving.  Here is a video of me walking with my mail cart then waving to you:

Here are photos of my week (you can still see my boo boo on my lip in some of them, but I am feeling much better now!):
