Week 43 (December 22-29): Christmas Eve, Christmas, My First Haircut, The Children’s Museum, and an Accidental Boo Boo

WOW, what a fun and exciting week!!

This week I experienced my first ever Christmas.  The fun and excitement actually started the day before on Christmas Eve.  Mummy and Daddy took me to The Brown Palace, a fancy hotel in Denver, for something called ‘Afternoon Tea.’  I’m told we were very lucky to get in because they start taking reservations for Christmas Eve Afternoon Tea on January 2nd!!  Mummy dressed me in a cute outfit that was the same colors Daddy was wearing – fun!  Nana Foo Foo and Tia Dia and her new boyfriend, Travis, were there too!  I enjoyed cucumber sandwiches, lemon gingerbread tart/cake and raspberry tart.  Yum!!  I’m still a great eater and will try anything.  There was a band that I loved to watch and I loved looking at all the lights and decorations.  Even though I got very tired at the end, I did not fuss one bit!  I went straight to bed when we got home.

In the morning, there were lots of shiny things under the tree and the fence was down!  Mummy and Daddy had a fence up to keep me away from the tree.  They put me down and I crawled straight to the tree and presents.  Mummy turned on this fun moose in a Santa suit with jingle bells on its antlers and he sang a Christmas song!  I LOVE that moose!!  I tried to unwrap a present but was not too impressed.  Mummy let me play in my new blow up car with lots of balls inside and that was fun.  My favorite thing of all though, was the black trash bag that Mummy and Daddy were using to put all the paper and bows into.  I was a little over whelmed!

I got a cool Tonka truck that I can ride from Aunt Monica and Uncle Scott:

Riding my Tonka truck!:

After my nap, Nana Foo Foo was there – she just shows up all over the place at random, but I’m always happy to see her!!  We all got in the car and went to Estes Park for Christmas Brunch at The Stanley Hotel.  Mummy and Daddy almost got married there!  It was pretty fun and I discovered that I LOVE butternut squash bisque – I had 2 bowls!!  Mummy thinks there should have been a separate, and lower price for vegetarians since the buffet was mostly meat stuff.  Oh well, it was still fun.  I fell asleep in teh car on the way home.

When we got back to my house there were more presents to open, this time from Nana Foo Foo.  I mostly played with the paper, but my new maracas, tambourine and bells were fun!  I got tired pretty fast and went to bed again for a nap.  When I woke up (or was rudely awakened by Mummy and Daddy) Tia Dia and her boyfriend Travis were there!  We did MORE presents before dinner.  Tia Dia got me this super fun cell phone that I just love!  She also got me a velcro strap that connects a toy to my wrist so I can’t drop it.  I love the drop it game!

The day after Christmas, Mummy and Daddy took me to get my very first haircut.  My hair was getting pretty long and shaggy so Mummy thought I needed a trim.  We went to Pigtails & Crewcuts at the Orchard shopping center near out house.  I got to sit in a yellow taxi during my haircut.  That was super fun!!  I loved turning the steering wheel!!  I also really loved getting to suck on the water squirt bottle.  I did super and enjoyed the whole thing.  Mummy and Daddy got a cool card with my photo, name, date, and little baggie of my hair to commemorate my first haircut.  Mummy and Daddy took me to lunch to celebrate!

After a day of rest I got to go to The Children’s museum with Mummy and Daddy.  Mummy’s friend Tara and my buddy Jax met us there…he is so cool and can walk and run all over the place now!  He is even almost as tall as me now (I am a giant!).  My favorite part of the museum is still the trees than I can pull up and stand next to.  I also really enjoy making out with myself in the mirror.  The only little bit yucky part of the trip was at the end when another kid was playing and knocked me over and bit my lip.   It bled and really hurt. There is a cut on the top of my lip and a puncture wound inside my lip 😦  Mummy says the other kiddo was probably just trying to give me a kiss and didn’t realize that teeth can hurt.  No big deal, it happens.

Just to be sure, Mummy and Daddy took me to the ER to have it checked out.  We would have just gone to my regular doctor, but they were closed.  They looked at it and cleaned it up and told Mummy and Daddy to watch for infection since human bites are the most likely to get infected.  I think it’s kind of funny that people mouths are dirtier than even dog mouths!  My lip was really swollen when we got home and I had some trouble with my night-night bottle but after some Tylenol I slept just fine.  It did get infected overnight though and we’re getting some antibiotics this afternoon.

All in all it was a super fun week and now I need a vacation, LOL!

Week 42 (December 15-22): The Children’s Museum, Stairs, Friends, and The Aquarium

What a super fun week!  Mummy is on vacation (she called it “PTO” though) and we’ve been doing tons of fun things 🙂  We’ve been to Little Monkey Bizness a lot and even met Miss Elena there one night.  She’s so pretty.  We shared some snacks too.  I got to see Miss Shelby this week too.  We both too a very long nap in my room.  Mummy says it’s ok to be in my room with a girl with the door closed right now, but when we get older it will be a very different story!!

I went to The Children’s Museum with Mummy and Daddy and guess who we found in the parking lot?!?!  NANA FOO FOO!!!  I was so excited…a little surprised, but very happy to see her.  She just pops up all over the place when I am least expecting to see her – FUN!!  I had a lot of fun and especially loved the trees in the meadow (in the museum).  I crawled and cruised all over and had a fun time fishing in a little boat called The Minnow!

Watch me fishing:

This week I mastered tha stairs – ALL of them!!  Before, I could get up one step but that was about it.  Then one day, I decided I wanted to get upstairs, so I went upstairs.  All by myself!!  Mummy and Daddy were there watching and spotting me, of course, but I did it all by myself!

I went to The Aquarium for the first time this week with Mummy.  I LOVED watching all the fish and turtles and other water things.  Some things I looked at from my stroller and some things I wanted to see a little closer.  For these, Mummy helped me out and I stood right up to the glass!!  I loved the tunnel where I could see big sharks, giant grouper, turtles and fish that all swam right over my head!!  Super cool!!  I even got to touch a star fish!!!  I hope we get to go again one day when I can walk through and see everything.

The other thing I did this week, and did a lot of, was Christmas shopping!  Mostly I stayed in my stroller and watched but there was a lot to see so it was fun.  Sometimes I got to play in the play area in the mall…I love that place!!

Week 41 (December 8-15): Meeting Santa, Gymnastics Class, Jax’s 1st Brithday Party and Tia Dia’s Tree Trimming

Holy cannoli, this was a super duper busy week!!

The first exciting thing was going to meet Santa for the first time.  He was stopping by Little Monkey Bizness in Westminster so Mummy took me to see him and tell him what I want for Christmas.  I was a little unsure what to make of this big man with white gloves and a white beard.  I did great though!  After talking to Santa I got to have some playtime.  I had fun and made new friends and practiced my new flirting skills.  My new flirting method, which is very effective, is to smile, then duck my head into Mummy, then look back up and smile through my eyelashes,  Mummy thinks it’s hysterical…I think I’ve got pretty good game for a 9 month old!

On Saturday morning, Mummy took me to my very first gymnastics class at The Little Gym in Westminster (Westminster has all the cool stuff!).  I was in the “Birds” class which is 10-18 months.  The “Bugs” are 4-10 months but since I was so close to 10 months, I went right into the Birds.  Miss Anna, the teacher and owner, was so sweet.  She has a little boy who is big like me!  I loves shaking the bells, clamping my hands and watching all the big kids.  I particularly loved playing with and in and under the parachute and getting spotted to flip over the bars.  I just giggled and giggled when I got to hand and swing and spin over the bars – FUN!!  Everything was so bring and exciting!  I did so great and loved it so much that Mummy signed me up for more classes!  I can’t wait to go back next week!!

I am still an awesome eater 🙂  I still have some cereal in the morning, but need my Cheerios too.  For lunch and dinner I am eating very, very little baby food anymore – I am BIG BOY now!!  I eat all kinds of finger foods.  My favorites are tofu, peas, Cheerios, and pasta.  Here is a video of me having pasta with tomato sauce for the first time…it wss delicious (and messy!!)!!  You can also hear me babbling away.  I am making lots and lots of sounds now but I don’t say too many actual words yet (even though I said my first words over 2 months ago!)

Jax’s First Birthday party was at Little Monkey Bizness…but not the one near my house.  There were TONS of people there.  26 babies/kids and 40 adults – he sure is popular!!!  I had a blast playing in the “big kid” area and of course, spend a considerable amount of time looking out and licking the window.  I also really loved this tunnel that I could crawl right through!  I got to see mt friends Jax, Shelby and Addy and meet and play with lots of other babies too!  Jax had a super cool cake that was three tiers high and really colorful!  I had to leave before he opened presents (I was very, very tired!!!) but I got him a Fisher Price Little People Farm – I hope he liked it!!  I also got a present too – a furry tickle monkey book and a lollipop (which Mummy won’t let me have because of all of the sugar)!!!  Such a great party!!

Tia Dia’s tree trimming was so much fun!  I was extra cute in my stripped Santa jammies with my matching hat.  I mingled, had some dinner at the bar (in my chair that hung on) and played.  There was even another baby there in the same exact outfit!!!  Baby Jake, who is itty bitty and only 6 weeks old, had my same jammies on.  I tried to play with him but he was sleeping for most of the time.  Tia Dia has an “exercise pole” that Mummy calles a “Fireman Pole” for me.  I LOVED it!!!!  I loved to hand on it, stand up on it, pull up and up on it and lick it.   Mummy spun me around it and I laughed and laughed.  Every time I was taken away I cried!!  Here is a video of me having fun with the pole:

This week I discovered that the kitchen is FULL of fun toys!!!  There are plastic cups, wooden spoons, spatulas, bundt pans and colanders!  I had a blast and played and played.  The measuring cups were my favorite.  Mummy played Peek-A-Boo with me by covering her face with the colander then pulling it up saying “Peek-A-Boo!”  I loved that!!  Then I took the colander and hid my face until Mummy asked “Where’s Thatcher” then I would lift it and she’s say “Peek-A-Boo!”  What a fun game!!!  I made it extra cute by sticking my tongue out every time I put the colander on my head.  Aren’t I so adorable?

Week 40 (December 1-8): 9 months, 1st Ear Infection and Finger Foods

I am 9 months old – WOW!!  I am still a big boy and now weigh in at 23 lbs 13 oz and is 31 inches tall!!  That puts my weight in the 90th percentile and my height is still off the top end of the chart.  I look like a TWO year old!  I guess nobody can say a vegetarian diet doesn’t make a baby grow, LOL.  I am still a great eater and love my veggies, tofu, and beans.  Cheerios, macaroni, and cooked peas and carrots are my current favorite finger foods and I am currently very into the orange foods when it comes to the baby food veggies Mummy makes me…and I’m slightly tinted orange from all the beta carotene!  My favorite is a mix Mummy made that has: sweet potatoes, yams (yes, they are different), carrots, butternut squash, acorn squash, and pumpkin.  My favorite fruits are now the purples, including raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and cherries (which are purple when all mixed together – and smell just like Play*Dough…or so Mummy says).  Last month I was into anything green for veggies – green beans, broccoli, spinach, asparagus, etc….and the pink and yellows for fruits – apples, pears, peaches, plums, etc.  I still like those, but they are not my favorites.  Mummy sure is glad I’m not a picky eater.  I eat pretty much anything…including one of my favorites, Tibetan and Nepalese food!!

Here is a video of me eating my favorite finger foods:

The only sour note of the doctor visit was the discovery that I have a pretty bad ear infection.  Yuk!  I didn’t do any crying, tugging at or messing with my ears, or any other sign that would let Mummy and Daddy know something was going on.  The night before my appointment, Mummy even cleaned my ears after my bath and I just giggles!  The doctor and Mummy said I should be in a lot of pain over an ear infection!!  Apparently I’ve got Mummy’s pain tolerance after all and I hear it’s not a good thing.  If Mummy and Daddy hadn’t had my appointment scheduled they never would have had reason to bring me in…would it have cleared up without the antibiotics I got prescribed?  I don’t know?  Ugggg.  The only thing that has been a little “off” lately was that I’ve been getting up for a bottle between 4 and 6 am (NOT typical!!).  Mummy wonders if the sucking made my ear feel better?  I’ll never tell, lol.   Mummy said they are going to have to be super vigilant about me.  I didn’t even cry for shots!!!  Well, maybe for about 5 seconds, but that was it, then I was giggly and happy again.  Mummy actually said she wished I was a little more fussy so she’d know if something was wrong.

With the antibiotics on board I started feeling better really quickly.  Mummy and Daddy also made sure to give me some motrin at night before bed now that they knew I was hurting.  I’m back to sleeping through the nights like the champion sleeper that I am!!  6 pm is bedtime and I get up around 7:30 am.  Mummy is going to bring me to the doctor to re-check my ears when I am done with my antibiotics just to be sure I’m all better.  I hope I don’t get any more ear infections or fevers for a very long time!!

Now that all of the holiday decorations are up, I love looking at them.  Mummy and daddy put a gate up so I can’t get to the tree.  Those ornaments and lights look like fun and delicious toys!!

Here is a video of me trying to get to the tree:

Week 39 (November 24 – December 1): The Rockettes, Thanksgiving, Little Monkey Bizness and My 1st Tree

Oh Boy, what a week!!

The week started off with my complete recovery from that horrible fever I had last week – YAY!!

Here is a video of Daddy dancing with me when I was feeling better:

This is a photo from about a week ago of me discovering the stairs!

Once I was all better, Mummy and Daddy took me to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular in Colorado Springs.  We were supposed to go in Denver, but Mummy didn’t get call to get tickets until the day after the tour left Denver – Oops!  Mummy and Daddy thought it would be a great annual tradition for me since they went last year when I was still in Mummy’s belly.  I took a little nap in the car (about 30 min) but was still pretty tired.

Mummy and Daddy were worried that I wouldn’t make it without melting down, but I did great!  Even though it was the day before Thanksgiving and Santa had not yet appeared at the end of the Macy’s Day parade, thus opening the Christmas season, I got to wear my Santa jammies to the show.  I was very, very cute and everyone loved me!  I watched parts of the show and was particularly excited about the lights that looked like stars and snow.  I sat on Mummy and Daddy’s lap the whole time and since Mummy forgot to change my diaper before the show I wet through my jammies and onto Mummy.  Thank goodness Mummy had a long-sleeved onsie in my diaper bag.  She did not have pants for me though!  It was fun and I can’t wait to go again next when I’m bigger!!

The next day was my very first Thanksgiving and it was great!!  In the morning I got the hang out with Daddy because Mummy went to run a 10K – she ran the whole way!!  It was an exciting day and we had lots of people over.  There was Nana Foo Foo and Tia Dia, Derek, Tara, and baby Jax, Nancy, Madeline, and Theresa.  I got lots of attention 🙂  I even ate Thanksgiving dinner with everyone.  I was a big fan of mashed potatoes, stuffing and gravy!!  Everyone says I was just delightful – I really am 🙂  I was very interested in watching Jax walk – he is an awesome walker!!  I think I want to learn that too!

Over the weekend, Mummy and Daddy took me to Little Monkey Bizness.  I wish I’d gone sooner – it was AWESOME!!!  There was tons of stuff for me to crawl on and play with.  despite all the fun stuff, I spent a lot of time at the window looking out and licking the window and window sill.  My other favorite thing was a little wooden rattle.  I shook it and shook it and played with it for at least 30 minutes!  I am getting really great at getting where I want to go, sitting up by myself and pulling up on things.  I hope we go back there a LOT!!  There is even coffee for Mummy and pizza for Daddy 🙂

Also over the weekend I got my very first tree!  Mummy and Daddy got a new one with LED lights because they stay cool and also got all new, and all-unbreakable ornaments.  I love to watch it all lit up…though I can’t touch it because it is behind a gate.
