Week 38 (November 17-24): One very sick little boy with one very high fever – I’m better now though

Holy cow, this was a tough week!!  The week was going along pretty uneventfully when I woke up from a nap on Saturday and was burning up.  Mummy knew I had a fever for sure and sure enough it was 100.4  Not a huge fever, but not normal for me.  We waited and it kept going up and up until it got to 103!!  I was bright red and just not feeling good.  Mummy called the doctor in the afternoon just to check in.  She knew that even 103 was not something to be too worried about for a baby.  She was also doing a good job keeping me hydrated and as comfortable as possible.  I hung out in short sleeves or just a diaper a lot of the day.  I took some motrin before bed and went down in a short sleeve onsie and my lightest sleep sack.  I had a lot of trouble getting to sleep because I was so uncomfortable.  It was a pretty rough night.  I did finally get a few solid hours after 1 am, but Mummy did not.  When I don’t feel good I tend to moan, groan, and whimper a little bit in my sleep.  I am sound asleep but it wakes Mummy up.

In the morning, I did not feel any better.  On Sunday, my fever was around 104 for most of the day and even went as high as 105 – YIKES!!!  Mummy immediately dosed me with motrin and got me in a lukewarm tub.  I played a little, but not as much as usual.  It did help get my temp back down to 102-103.  That was scary!!!  Mummy and Daddy never, ever want to see it that high ever, ever again!!  Sunday was worse than Saturday because my fever was so much higher all day.  It was another rough night of rocking and holding (Mummy and Daddy don’t mind one bit though) but I did finally get some solid sleep from 11:30 pm until about 5:30 am.  I wasn’t up for the day until around 8″30 since I got a bottle at 5:30.  When I was up for the day on Monday, my temp was back down to 100 – YAY!.  Mummy decided that since it was down that I must be on the mend and decided not to make a doctor appointment for me.  Then, after my first nap, it was back up to 102.  She called the doctor and we went in a few hours later.  Of course, when we get there, my temp had gone down to 99.4 which is basically normal.  The doctor listened to my lungs which were all clear, and looked in my nose, throat and ears which were all tip-top.  Apparently it was just a virus du jour.  I took lots of naps on Tuesday and was back to normal.  That is not an experience I want to repeat anytime soon.  Even though I had no other symptoms besides the fever, it was not fun!!

Next week will have lots more photos and good stories.  I’m going to see the Rockettes tonight then Thanksgiving is the next day and we get the tree the day after that!!

Here is a photo of me sick and when I got better…you’ll know which is which!!

Feeling Yucky

All Better!

Week 37 (November 10-17): Pulling up, Tooth #2, Playtime, New Clothes, and a Gym Membership

What a fun week!  I got to go to a play group, two restaurants, play time at the mall and I got a SECOND tooth!  I’m also moving around even fasted and am pulling up on things and can get to standing all by myself!!  I can also sit back down on my own.  Whew!

The play group was at Miss Laura and Shelby’s house.  There were lots of other babies and I was the biggest one – I’m getting pretty used to being the biggest.  I love getting to interact with babies now and I was especially enamored with a cool turtle that had lights all over it!  Pretty much all of us babies got tired at the same time and had to go home for naps.  I hope Mummy takes me to more play groups or hosts more playgroups.

The other fun playtime I got this week was a trip to the Cherry Creek Mall play area.  I pulled up on some of the big toys, but mostly I love watching all of the other babies and kids.  WOW, there were sooooo many kids and they were moving sooooo fast.  My Nana Foo Foo and Tia Dia came to play with me and we all went to the Kona Grill for dinner.  I had so much fun!

Mummy knows that as I’m getting bigger and more active it’s important that I get plenty of time to play and socialize.  Since I am not in daycare Mummy thought that adding me to their Lifetime Fitness membership so I can go to the daycare center and get some playtime in would be a good idea.  I can’t wait to go!  Mummy says that I’ll get to go mostly in the late afternoon, after nap #2 and bottle, but before dinner and bedtime.  I’m so excited!!

I continue to get faster and more proficient with crawling.  I am still not totally on my knees yet but I am using them, and my feet, a lot more.  I love being able to get where I want to go without any help.  I’ve even started pulling up to standing all by myself.  Mummy is extra impressed that I can also get myself sitting back down on my own too!  Though I still can’t get into a sitting position from my back or tummy on my own.  I can lean on my side, but haven’t quite figured out how to push up into sitting.  I’m working on it…

Look at me go:

I got my first tooth last week and my SECOND this week!!  Mummy saw two teeth 7 weeks ago so she wasn’t too surprised.  They are SHARP and I keep chewing on my fingers and made a boo boo on one of them.  It’s getting better now, but I am sill feeling my teeth all the time.  My mouth used to be so soft!

You may have noticed how extra handsome I am in my photos this week.  Mummy went shopping!!  I got loads of new winter clothes and some super cute Christmas jammies that I get to start wearing the day after Thanksgiving.  My first Christmas – SO EXCITING!!

Here are some photos from my week:

Week 36 (November 3-10): Babyproofing, Playtime with Shelby, My Professional Photo Shoot, First Snow and MY FIRST TOOTH!

I am fully on the move these days and I’m getting FAST!!  While I’m still working on figuring out the whole knee thing, I can pull myself all over the house with my arms.  I especially love to chase Nicholas, and the door stops that “boing!” when I pull on them and the vents are pretty cool too!  Mummy and Daddy finally got the baby gates up and did other babyproofing like corner protectors and outlet covers.  I also got a new, soft toybox that covers the fireplace corner and gets my toys hidden at night.  One of the places I like to crawl to is a big stack of catalogs and magazines.  Here is a video of the end of me ripping up a catalog – fun stuff!

This week Mummy took me to meet Daddy for lunch.  We went to Old Tibet and I got to try some saag, channa masala, and tofu aloo – YUMMY!!!  I especially love the saag!  After lunch I had my favorite goodie…watermelon!!  I LOVE watermelon!!

One day this week I got to have Miss Shelby over to play all day!!  Mostly I slept while she played and she slept while I played but we did have about an hour of overlapping awake time 🙂    Shelby is a great crawler and knows how to use her knees and everything.  She can even sit up from crawling…I still need to learn that skill!  We had fun crawling around after each other and playing with all my toys.  Shelby wanted everything I put in my mouth.  I was a gentleman and let her take what she wanted 🙂  Our Mummies took us on a run in our BOBs too so it was a full day.  I even gave Miss Shelby one of my signature “head hugs” before she left…it was very, very cute!

Here are some videos of us:

The big event this week was my big 8 month photo shoot at the Denver Botanical Gardens with Miss Kristie Chadwick.  We were also doing a family photo for our annual holiday card.  I woke up all smiles and smiles all the way until the photo shoot began.  Then, I decided I did NOT want to smile for the camera.  Hopefully we still got some nice photos, but there were no smiles.  I did eat a lot of leaves though so hopefully that will be cute, LOL!

After the photo shoot we went to the new Mellow Mushroom that opened up downtown.  I had started to really cry in the car on the way over because I was so tired.  When we got there I perked back up and had fun looking at all the TVs and food always (ok, usually, not always) perks me up too.  We met the Mintos there and I got to see Jax 🙂  Mummy and Daddy were VERY disappointed with the pizza!!!  It is their favorite pizza in Atlanta and that is what they expected.  They overcooked the pizza and the whole meals was just not good 😦  The owner gave them $30 worth of gift cards to come back, but they are not sure they want to.  We will probably wait until we visit Atlanta to eat at Mellow Mushroom again.  Though I did like the tofu off the mega veggies Mummy and Daddy got 🙂

This week 2 other big things happened.  First, it SNOWED!!!!  Mummy was very excited and I liked watching it but didn’t feel it necessary to go out in it.  About an hour after we came back inside Mummy rushed over when I cried really hard in my exersaucer, which I never, ever do.  When I looked up she saw blood on the toy I was chewing on!!!  After she pried my mouth open (I clamped it shut, lol) she saw that my bottom tooth finally popped all the way through!!!!!  She had seen the tooth a teeny bit SIX whole weeks ago!  I guess it wanted to take its time popping all the way up.  I am proud to be the new owner of a tooth!!!

Here are this weeks photos!  Mummy will post my professional photos as soon as she gets them back in a  week or two.

Week 35 (October 27 – November 3): The Huckleberry, My Pimped Out BOB, and My First Halloween!!!

What an exciting week!!

I went to my favorite restaurant, The Huckleberry, for brunch.  I mostly ate my own food that Mummy and Daddy brought, but Mummy let me try a few little bites of her blueberry pancakes.  They were pretty good!  I made friends with another family sitting near us.  I am extremely smily in the mornings these days!

This week I went for a few runs with Mummy in my BOB.  I have fun for the first 45-60 minutes then I get really fussy.  It is usually because I’m tired and the BOB is not super comfortable to sleep in.  So, Mummy “pimped my ride!”  She started just making me a fuzzy seat pad then made me a head/back pillow and side pillows to lean on.  She also made a fleece blanket thing that covers the infant bars and keeps my legs covered.  I love to sit up by hanging onto the infant bars, but they get cold so Mummy covered them!  The bars are usually where the toys live sp she added some toy loops so I can still ride with my goodies!  The last thing Mummy made was a cover to keep the sun out of the sides and it covers the whole thing so I can sleep better.  I LOVE my new BOB 🙂

The most exciting thing of the week was my first HALLOWEEN!!  I dressed up as Baby Bear and Mummy and Daddy were Mama and Papa Bear.  Their costumes were pretty lame though and only consisted of brown sweaters.  I was in a full bear suit with a bear hood/hat thing that kept falling over my eyes.  We had a party on Halloween and Mummy made lots of near Halloween themed food including a pumpkin shaped cake, forked eyeballs (donut holes), and a haunted graveyard (spinach hummus dip)!  Lots of my friends came and everyone looked fantastic in their costumes!!!  We tried to do a shot of all the babies on the sofa, but nobody wanted to smile or sit facing forward at the same time.  We did finally get one of us with our Mummies holding us.

After everyone left Mummy remembered that I had Superman PJs.  Mummy and Daddy wish they had remembered these for later in the party after we got out of our big, bulky costumes.  They were a little big (size 2T!!) but still super cute 🙂    While I am still too little for real trick or treating, we did go to see our neighbors Wanda and George.  Mummy also let me play with the candy bowl, but I wasn’t that into it.  That will probably change next year though!

Mummy took more photos this week – yay!
